Hello Alderwood!
A lot has happened since the last update and I’m here to tell the tales of the Lord’s hand in France! It’s now been a full six months since I set foot on French soil, and I’ve been amazed to witness God at work. Coming in, I envisioned this ministry as a means of God using me to bring the Good News to students on campus, a way for the Word to break through and disseminate. God in his grandness and grace has shown me that there’s much more going on. He is first and foremost in the business of changing hearts, and that includes mine.
There have been many times on campus where I’ve been challenged at a base level, do I really love this student? Do I really care that he/she knows Christ and is saved? He’s grown in me an awareness of my own desperate need for Him and His tireless desire to be my all in all, the one who makes me whole. This work has also been echoed through Christian fellowship and all that comes when you live with roommates. His pursuit is such a gift.
And just when I can’t see what He’s doing in me, I see Him all around. There’s a shift happening on French campuses, a thirst for more wanting to be quenched. One example is of my friend, Thibault, who in October was sure of God’s non-existence, who took pleasure in dismantling every argument given. Now, he’s reading the Bible, praying, and discovering what it means to follow Jesus. Through prayer and the mercy that the Lord extends, we are seeing hearts softening, and longings being satisfied when the Spirit awakens what was once dormant.

Prayer requests in this season of ministry:

  • That the seeds planted in Thibault’s heart would fall on good and fertile soil

  • That I, and the students we encounter on campus, would be faced with our need for Christ’s saving and the wholeness He offers

  • That the word of Christ would dwell in our hearts richly (Colossians 3:16) and that it would bear the fruit of faithfulness and holiness

In Christ,

Mallory
