Big Idea: Following Jesus means learning to live as exiles.

Exile: A citizen of God’s kingdom who lives in the tension of being in the world but not of it.   

John 17:14 they are not of the world

John 17:15 is not that you take them out of the world 

2 Peter 2:11-12 as foreigners and exiles

Philippians 3:20 our citizenship is in heaven

How do we follow Jesus as exiles?  

1. Accept the circumstances God has you in.

2. Reject panic and despair. 

3. Cling to hope and faithfulness.
