Dan invited Jesus into his life as an 8 year old at Vacation Bible School in Joliet, Illinois. Following years of Christian summer camps and up-and-down spiritual fervor, the Lord reminded Dan of His loving faithfulness through a depression spurred on by a sports-related eating disorder in high school. The Lord brought him to Campus Crusade for Christ at Bradley University where he began reading and studying God’s Word regularly and also learned to share his faith. Being from Japan, Toshiko had no prior understanding of the God of the Bible when she saw a sign at school for a Japanese Bible study at a local church. She remembered a friend’s suggestion that she attend church to make friends in America, so she became involved with the international ministries of that church, attending outings, retreats, and Bible studies. Despite growing involvement over the next three years, it wasn’t until she transferred to the University of Oregon that she began to see God as close and personal. Christian students reached out to her there; and at a church retreat, she realized that she could no longer say “no” to Jesus. Dan graduated from Bradley University with a degree in Manufacturing Engineering and added an Apologetics Master’s degree in 2021; Toshiko graduated from the University of Oregon with a degree in Sociology and also has a Master’s Degree from Multnomah Biblical Seminary in Family Ministry. Since October of 2011, Dan and Toshiko have served with International Students, Inc. at the University of Oregon. They primarily reach out to grad and PhD students, and from a lot of other places lately: India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Ghana.
