Message Questions

We are continuing our study in the book of Acts, which is the story of the Holy Spirit igniting the Jesus movement through faithful obedience of a few humble people. We continue that same story today. The Holy Spirit will use the teachings of Acts to inspire you to do the same thing the earliest followers of Jesus did when they first understood the magnitude of what God has done through Christ: to GO. This Sunday, the big idea is: The Spirit of God uniquely calls and equips some of his people to the hard places. Our passage is Acts 13:1-3.

Use these questions to discuss the message from Sunday, focusing on how you can grow as an everyday follower of Jesus and how you can go accomplish what Jesus calls you to do.

  1. Read Acts 1:8. Take a few minutes to reflect on our study in Acts. What has stuck out to you? What has challenged or confused you?
  2. Read Acts 13:1-3. What characteristics of the church in Antioch do you see? What can we learn from the long list of names in vs. 1?
  3. Reread vs. 2 again. What is the work that is set apart for Barnabas and Saul? For what hard work has the Holy Spirit set you apart?
  4. Pastor Steve talked about the importance of healthy relationships when going into hard places. Have someone read vs. 3 again. How can your LifeGroup grow in your fasting, praying, laying on of hands, and sending?
  5. Following Jesus leads God’s people to share the gospel in the hardest places. What are the hardest places for you to go to and why?
