A Clash of Kingdoms

Big Idea: Jesus came to establish a kingdom that supersedes all others.

Message Questions

As we approach Palm Sunday and Easter Sunday, we remember the events that led to Jesus’ arrest and ultimately his death, burial, and resurrection. Our theme this year is Unshakable. The reality is that nothing in this world is stable. Only Jesus can give us something unshakable. This Sunday, we’ll be in Luke 19:28-48 and Hebrews 12:28-29, and the big idea is: Jesus came to establish a kingdom that supersedes all others.

Use these questions to discuss the message from Sunday, focusing on how you can grow as an everyday follower of Jesus and how you can go accomplish what Jesus calls you to do.

  1. Have someone read Luke 19:28-40. Compare and contrast the actions and emotions of the people and of Jesus. Why do you think the people misunderstood Jesus’ kingdom?
  2. Pastor Wyatt defined kingdom as “a system that provides order, meaning, and purpose in exchange for your allegiance.” Read Mark 1:15. Define kingdom in your own words.
  3. Have someone read Hebrews 12:28-29. What should our response be to knowing Jesus’ kingdom is unshakeable? What does it look like for you to serve God with reverence and awe?
  4. What has your allegiance right now? What rhythms in your life can you add or adjust to grow your allegiance to Jesus?
  5. Who is Jesus calling you to go towards and invite to Easter with you? Spend a few minutes praying for them.
