These are the things Jesus knew they needed to know, and we do too. In this message series, we’ll be diving into John 13-16 as we learn more about the Heart of the Teacher: Jesus’ Final Words. This week we are in John 14:15-26, and the big idea is: The Holy Spirit is how we know Jesus.

Use these questions to discuss the message from Sunday, focusing on how you can grow as an everyday follower of Jesus and how you can go accomplish what Jesus calls you to do.

  2. Have someone read John 14:17 and 1 Corinthians 2:14. The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of truth who helps us understand and know Jesus. Why do you think people struggle to recognize spiritual truth? How has the Holy Spirit helped you understand God’s Word and grow in faith?
  3. Have someone read John 14:18-20. Jesus promises not to leave us as orphans but to bring us into his family. How does the Holy Spirit confirm our identity as children of God? What difference does this make in the way you view yourself and your relationship with God?
  4. John 14:26 tells us that the Holy Spirit teaches and reminds us of Jesus’ words. What steps can you take to grow in listening to the Holy Spirit’s guidance in your life? How can you become more aware of his teaching and presence?
