Message Questions
In the month of December, we’ll be on an Advent journey together as we remember four things that Jesus’ arrival at Christmas brought us: Hope, Peace, Joy, and Love. In the midst of the busy Christmas season, Advent invites us to slow down and reflect on the enduring promise of “God with us” each day. This week marks the second week of our Advent series. Pastor Wyatt walks us through the peace made available to us in Jesus this Christmas. Let’s jump in!
Use these questions to discuss the message from Sunday, focusing on how you can grow as an everyday follower of Jesus and how you can go accomplish what Jesus calls you to do.
- Have someone read Luke 2:14. The angels announce peace on earth through the birth of Jesus. What do you think it means to experience peace "to people he favors"? How does this differ from how the world often defines peace?
- Now have someone read Isaiah 26:3. Perfect peace comes from trusting in God. Share a time when you felt a sense of peace despite facing challenges or conflict. What helped you keep your mind dependent on God during that time?
- Have someone read John 14:27 and Romans 5:1. Jesus offers a peace that the world cannot give, grounded in reconciliation with God. How does the peace of Christ change the way we respond to fear or uncertainty in life?
- Shalom describes the world as God intends it to be—whole, just, and good. In what ways can you grow in being a peacemaker, working toward wholeness and reconciliation in your relationships or community this season?
- Numbers 6:24-26 offers a blessing of peace. Who in your life needs to experience the peace of Jesus this Christmas? How can you go and share this peace with them in a practical or meaningful way this week?
