Message Questions
We are continuing our study in the book of Acts, which is the story of the Holy Spirit igniting the Jesus movement through faithful obedience of a few humble people. We continue that same story today, and the Holy Spirit will use the teachings of Acts to inspire you to do the same thing the earliest followers of Jesus did when they first understood the magnitude of what God has done through Christ: to GO. This Sunday, the big idea is: Without humility, it’s easy to completely miss what God is doing in and around you. Our passage is Acts 5:12-42.
Use these questions to discuss the message from Sunday, focusing on how you can grow as an everyday follower of Jesus and how you can go accomplish what Jesus calls you to do.
- Read Acts 5:17-21. What is happening between the religious leaders and the apostles? What did the angel say and how did the apostles respond? Where does jealousy show up in your life?
- Have someone Acts 5:25-29. Summarize the question and statement in vs. 28 in your own words. What is the apostle's response in vs. 29?
- Have someone Acts 5:30-42. The religious leader's anger and frustration is very high, and they are missing what God is doing. What is Gamaliel’s advice in your own words? Reread Acts 5:41-42. How did the apostles respond to being prisoned and beaten?
- Pastor Wyatt shared three ways that we miss God: We’re not looking; we won’t pay the cost; or we’re just wrong. Of these three ways, which one stands out to you? Which one have you seen yourself fall into? How can paying attention to these things cause you to grow in your relationship with Jesus?
- Pastor Wyatt shared three things that we need in order to see God: Obedience, wisdom, and humility. Of these three, which is the hardest for you and why? As you go to relationships where God has called you to, where are you seeing God show up?
