Message Questions
We are in a series on Ruth. The book of Ruth is a story all about faithfulness. As we explore faithfulness as an aspect of God’s character and a virtue for us to embody, we’ll discover ways we can show up faithfully in people’s lives and at church as an act of worship. This week we are in Ruth 3 and the Big Idea this week is: God is faithful in the mess.
Use these questions to discuss the message from Sunday, focusing on how you can grow as an everyday follower of Jesus and how you can go accomplish what Jesus calls you to do.
- Have someone read Ruth 3:1-5. What stands out to you in Naomi’s plan? How do you think Ruth might have felt hearing this? Pastor Wyatt shared that Naomi’s plan starts off pretty good and then steadily goes downhill. What does this tell us about Naomi’s perspective on Ruth’s situation?
- Read Ruth 3:8-9. How does Ruth identify herself, and what does she ask of Boaz? How might this moment have been significant for both Ruth and Boaz?
- Read Ruth 3:10-13. How did Boaz respond to Ruth's requests? What does this reveal about Boaz’s character and his view of Ruth?
- How does Ruth’s faith and character seem to grow throughout this story, especially considering the difficult position she is in? What are some areas where God might be challenging you to grow, even in hard or messy situations?
- Boaz goes out of his way to protect and provide for Ruth, even when he could have acted otherwise. How does this example encourage us to go and serve others in tangible ways, especially those who are vulnerable or in need?
