FOR GRADES 5-12 ON SELECT TUESDAY EVENINGS AT THE COMPASSION CENTER
The Alderwood Compassion Center is a ministry used to provide community resources and outreach programs to the working poor in our community.
Our goal is to demonstrate and declare the love of Jesus Christ to both our community and our congregational family. The Food Program is our foundational ministry, and groceries are distributed by the Hospitality Team every Tuesday night to families who have applied online. There are several service team opportunities within the Alderwood Compassion Center. This one is called “Compassion Center Navigators – Homework Help.” This program is offered to the students from families we serve in the Food Program as well as any student in need of coaching on homework.
“Homework Help” utilizes community resources from the Sno-Isle Library System which includes free, online, live tutoring on any subject. In-person help on homework is available through our volunteer mentors. The mission of “Homework Help” is to provide these students with mentoring and homework coaching in the spirit of “Connect-Grow-Go” and be an example of living the Gospel through building relationships. We’re looking for volunteer mentors and others interested in serving the youth of our community.
We meet on the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Tuesdays of most months. Homework Help serves students in 5th – 12th Grades. Fill out the interest form below if you're interested in volunteering (a background check is required), or email ccnavigators@amcc.org if you have questions or would like to get help for your student.
