Message Questions
We are continuing our study in the book of Acts, which is the story of the Holy Spirit igniting the Jesus movement through faithful obedience of a few humble people. We continue that same story today. The Holy Spirit will use the teachings of Acts to inspire you to do the same thing the earliest followers of Jesus did when they first understood the magnitude of what God has done through Christ: to GO. This Sunday, the big idea is: When you follow Jesus closely, life has highs and lows—but it’s not boring. Our passage is Acts 14:1-20.
Use these questions to discuss the message from Sunday, focusing on how you can grow as an everyday follower of Jesus and how you can go accomplish what Jesus calls you to do.
- Have someone read Acts 14:1-7. Where do you see the highs and lows in this passage? Reread vs. 3. Where is God calling you to stay a long time and speak with boldness? What was Paul and Barnabus’ response to the mistreatment and stoning? Share a time when you have fled but continued to share the gospel.
- Read Acts 14:8-18. Who do the crowds think Paul and Barnabus are? Pastor Wyatt shared about Philemon and Baucis; what stuck out to you about this story? What was Paul and Barnabus’ response to being worshipped?
- Have someone read Acts 14:19-20. The disciples gathered around Paul after he was stoned and dragged out. How can your LifeGroup gather around those who are in low seasons?
- Pastor Wyatt shared that if following Jesus has become boring, you might not be following him closely. How have high or low seasons caused you to grow in your love of Jesus? Have someone read Galatians 5:22. Which of these areas do you need to grow in the most and why?
- When you follow Jesus closely, life has highs and lows, but it’s never boring. What are some new ways you can go towards the relationships God has placed around you?
