Message Questions

We are continuing our study in the book of Acts, which is the story of the Holy Spirit igniting the Jesus movement through faithful obedience of a few humble people. We continue that same story today, and the Holy Spirit will use the teachings of Acts to inspire you to do the same thing the earliest followers of Jesus did when they first understood the magnitude of what God has done through Christ: to GO. This Sunday, the big idea is: Our hope is in Christ, not ourselves. Our passage is Acts 12:20-25.

Use these questions to discuss the message from Sunday, focusing on how you can grow as an everyday follower of Jesus and how you can go accomplish what Jesus calls you to do.

  1.  Read Acts 12:20-21. With whom was Herod angry? What was Blastus asked to do? How was Herod dressed when he gave his speech?
  2. Have someone read Acts 12:22-23. Who did the people think Herod was? What did the angel of the Lord do and why? How did Herod die?
  3. Have someone read Acts 12:24-25. What happened to the gospel after this event took place? Read 2 Corinthians 11:14-15. What is the disguise of Satan and his servants?
  4. Pastor Curtis warned us that pride can happen to any of us and eats us from the inside out. Have someone read Matthew 23:27-28. How have you seen pride limit your ability to grow in your relationship with Jesus?
  5. Our hope is in Christ and not in ourselves. Does this give you confidence to Go All In with the relationships Jesus has placed around you? Why or why not?
