We’re in a year-long journey through the books of 1 and 2 Samuel, tracing the rise, reign, and legacy of Israel’s most famous king. We’ll see the story of how God works through real people with real flaws to accomplish his purposes. This week we are in 1 Samuel 1-2:11, and the big idea is: God is the only one who can make us whole.

Use these questions to discuss the message from Sunday, focusing on how you can grow as an everyday follower of Jesus and how you can go accomplish what Jesus calls you to do.

1. Have someone read 1 Samuel 1:1–8. What emotions or challenges is Hannah facing in this passage? Which of those challenges do you relate to most right now?
2. Have someone read 1 Samuel 1:9–18. How does Hannah approach God in her pain, and what stands out to you about her prayer?
3. Have someone read 1 Samuel 1:19–28. What do you think motivated Hannah to dedicate Samuel to the Lord, and what does that teach us about trusting God?
4. What would it look like to grow in trusting God's timing and worshiping him before your prayers are answered?
5. How could you go encourage someone this week to look to God as the only one who makes us whole?
