Message Questions

We are continuing our study in the book of Acts, which is the story of the Holy Spirit igniting the Jesus movement through faithful obedience of a few humble people. We continue that same story today. The Holy Spirit will use the teachings of Acts to inspire you to do the same thing the earliest followers of Jesus did when they first understood the magnitude of what God has done through Christ: to GO. This Sunday, the big idea is: God is actively working in the world. Will we join or reject him? Our passage is Acts 13:13-52.

Use these questions to discuss the message from Sunday, focusing on how you can grow as an everyday follower of Jesus and how you can go accomplish what Jesus calls you to do.

  1. Jack talked about God actively working in the world. Share some ways you have seen God working in your life recently.
  2. Have someone read Acts 13:13-16. What does Luke tell us about the group to whom Paul and Barnabas were preaching? Why does this matter? (See vs. 44-46 for more understanding.)
  3. Read Acts 13:38-39. What is now available to people who place their faith in Jesus? How is this different from how the Jews in Paul’s day viewed salvation and justification? (See the end of vs. 39.)
  4. When we read about God’s active involvement in human history, through Israel’s history and ultimately through Jesus, how can you grow in your trust of God’s nature and character?
  5. To what new thing is God calling you to go all in?
