Matthew & Sarah Peterson
World Link Ministries
Hello dear Alderwood Church Family!
We are Matthew and Sarah Peterson. We have a 1.5-year-old daughter named Robyn and another baby girl expected to anytime!
We both grew up in Christian homes. Sarah grew up as a missionary kid in Madrid, Spain (her parents are Manny & Glenda Fernandez—missionaries Alderwood has been a faithful supporter of for many years). Matthew is from East Texas and came to faith in Christ as a young boy. He grew up and pursued a career in sales and corporate recruiting, in his father’s footsteps. Then, in the Spring of 2015, God called Matthew to prepare for missions overseas, specifically to Asia. He has been attending Dallas Theological Seminary since then, and will be graduating May 2020 with a Masters of Theology.
Matthew has been excited to learn about World Link Ministries, a missions organization that focuses on training nationals to reach their own country for Christ. He had been researching and meeting with several missions organizations when he had the opportunity to travel with Manny Fernandez (Sarah’s dad) to Asia and see exactly what the ministry is doing all over the world. Matthew quickly recognized that this is what God had been calling him to all along, and is thrilled to be a part of training and mobilizing pastors and church planters across Asia.
We have already begun the work in Asia by setting up two training centers and are planning to move there this summer (2020) to start up an additional five training centers throughout Asia for field pastors. We plan to live there for two to three years, until the centers are up and running. Once the training centers are up and running, the plan is for us to return to the U.S. and for Matthew to continue training and mobilizing through various trips and grow the ministry in additional countries from this side of the ocean.
