Youth For Christ (Seattle)
As Paul shares in Philippians 1:4-5, “In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now.” Alderwood has been a faithful and generous partner in ministry for Seattle Area Youth for Christ. As a result, countless kids have been impacted by the gospel!
Take Juan for instance. Growing up in South Everett in a broken home, he became involved with local gangs at the age of 12. Whether it was guns or drugs, he was in charge of delivering these to the right people. He got involved in our ministry on Casino Road called City Life and has given his life to Jesus. He is now a student leader, holds a job, and is now moving towards graduating from high school.
Or consider Emariay. Because of the neighborhood he grew up in (South Seattle), he was exposed to a level of brokenness you and I have a hard time imagining. In middle school, he started to come to our Thursday night club called Cultured. At our winter discipleship camp, he gave his life to Jesus and now has a heart to reach his friends for Christ.
Even as we face the unprecedented crisis of Covid-19, we are still actively involved in the lives of kids. Discipleship meetings, Bible studies and large group clubs are now happening virtually. We have also designated money towards a Covid-19 support fund to care for families in need.
You are a part of this great work!
As I close this letter, I want to share an important update. After three years serving as the Executive Director, I’m now in the process of closing up my time with YFC. I have accepted the position of CEO of a growing non-profit in Spokane called Generation Alive and will be transitioning in the coming months.
The constant these last years has been God’s faithfulness. He has showed up time and time again and will continue to do so.
Thank you, Alderwood! We love you.
