Engineering Ministries Intl.

Greetings to our ACC family!
I don’t know about Lynnwood, but life here in Uganda is a bit crazy right now. It is not often passengers arrive at an airport congratulating each other for making it through customs without having to face a government mandated quarantine, or getting stranded in a foreign country along the way because of canceled flights or closed borders. However, I (Jesse) overheard just such a conversation as we dropped friends of ours off at the airport for one of the last flights to leave! As of this week, Uganda is a land and air locked country! Everyone is canceling trips and staying close to home over the next 2-4 months. Panic buying is a real thing…only here in Uganda it is rice, beans, and sugar…not toilet paper! I am conservatively buying (aka: panic buying) steel and hardware (hinges, screws, welding rods, etc) for the projects I am managing as prices continue to skyrocket and supplies dwindle. Fear is spreading…fear of the unknown and so much more. Christians need to stand against fear, and help others however we can. Anyone who looks at us should see a difference. Pray believers in Uganda will shine their light during this time of uncertainty, and that EMI will be a blessing to our ministry partners and the engineering/construction community. Many people live day to day, surviving week by week. We saw panic last week as all public transport was outlawed. Uganda is on a complete 14-day lockdown…most people here understand this will cause suffering for many low income people. Please pray true compassion will shine, and that at the end of this very strange time we will be confident we have followed our Savior the whole way. I pray that when our actions during these weeks and months are judged, we will hear: “Well done, good and faithful servant”.
I will leave you with a verse that really hit me this week. Psalm 46:10 “Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!” Amidst the chaos and fear, please join us in asking God to still our anxieties, remembering where our hope and peace come from!
