Thrive International Missions
Greetings to my Alderwood family! I hope and trust that this update finds you well in the midst of the unique time that we are in. Like for most, life has changed a bit for me in the last few months. I am so thankful for your prayers and patience as I have been seeking to discern what God’s will would be for me in my timeline of moving to Albania to serve with THRIVE International Missions.
Prior to the pandemic, I would have been close to being one month away from making the official move. And as a result of the practical inabilities of getting into the country, alongside the amplified media needs at the church where I presently work, serve, and have been receiving training at in Southern California, it is clear that moving to Albania is delayed at least 6-8 months (if not more). A lot of my time these days (60ish hours a week) has been spent producing and a creating videos and other media related content for our church during this pandemic. If any church media guy was questioning their job security before, they have no reason to now. We are blessed to have the technology that we do to stay so connected in a time where it is easy (and even encouraged) to stay distant. We seek to redeem that technology for the purpose of the edification and fellowship of God’s people in the best ways that we can create. I am so thankful to be able to serve in this way, at this time. And like you, we long to meet again as soon as we are able!
This is difficult, but the proper response to this, as it is for many challenges we face, is to trust in the sovereignty and providence of God and to respond in worship. We know He is in control of all things and in Him all things hold together (Colossians 1:17). And we know that His plans are greater than our own.
A verse that has often brought me comfort in seasons like this is Proverbs 16:9. “The heart of man plans his way, but the Lord establishes His steps.” Our sovereign God will, by all means, overrule the plans of men in order to fulfill His divine and heavenly purposes. This brings great comfort!
I long to be with our brothers and sisters in Albania soon, but I know that God is in control!
